CITY will travel to Grimsby in the Carabao Cup first round.

This morning's draw paired Graham Alexander's men with their fellow League Two club.

It means the Bantams will make two trips to Blundell Park in the opening month - they are also back on Humberside in league action on Saturday, August 31.

The Bantams reached round three last year under Mark Hughes after penalty shoot-outs win at Accrington and Wrexham. They were beaten 2-0 by Championship Middlesbrough at Valley Parade.

The Grimsby tie will take place in the first week of the new season, beginning August 12.

Meanwhile, Newcastle will provide the under-21 side in City's group in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy after this afternoon's draw.

League One duo Mansfield and Rotherham are also involved.
