BRADFORD Bulls have announced that Dan Okoro has joined Super League side Warrington Wolves for an undisclosed fee – with immediate effect.
The 20-year-old has made two league appearances for the club since joining midway through 2023 – but is currently out of action with a broken jaw and with his current contract expiring at the end of the current campaign, he was free to talk to clubs from May 1.
As part of the agreement between the two clubs, Okoro and other Warrington players will be available to join Bradford on loan should they not be selected for their parent club.
Bradford Bulls Head Coach Eamon O’Carroll, said: “We are obviously disappointed to lose Dan but we are also really happy for him.
“He’s worked tremendously hard these last 18 months and credit to Lee Greenwood, Brian Noble and Chris Hough who took Dan in after a period where he was bouncing from place to place, because he found a home for a period here.
“He put in strong performances for us and now has the opportunity to go play Super League. He leaves at a time when he’s out with injury anyway so he will do his rehab with Warrington, but we are still hopeful we will see him back in a Bulls jersey.
“Fans may be disappointed, as we are, but it’s a positive deal for the club, there’s a transfer fee involved which puts us in an even stronger position to strengthen the squad and although we lose Dan which is sad, we may get to use him when available as well as bring in new players.
“I’ve spoken to Gaz Chambers and Brian Noble has been working closely with Sam Burgess so there’s a good relationship there. Hopefully Dan kicks on and plays Super League.
“We’re looking all over in terms of recruitment. We have been continually looking and now with Dan’s move confirmed, we can use that transfer fee and it will go straight into the squad.
“We won’t just spend for the sake of spending, but we will bring in the right people who we hope will be here long term too.”
