BRADFORD City Women extended their unbeaten run to six games with a 2-1 victory at South Shields on Sunday.

A goal either side of half-time from wing wizard, Mia Jacobs put the Bantams firmly in control and despite conceding late on, the visitors held onto a valuable three points.

The win sees City climb into 4th place in the North East Regional Women's Football League (Premier Division), having overtaken Saturday's opponents on head-to-heads.

As for Jacobs, she's now Bradford's outright leading goalscorer after moving onto double digits for the season with a record of ten goals in 17 appearances.

It took just shy of 20 minutes for the tricky forward to break the deadlock for the visitors and it was an eye-catching goal to say the least.

After winning a header on the halfway line, Jacobs raced down the right channel, beating her opposing full-back, before hitting a powerful low strike across goal to find the bottom left-hand corner of South Shields' goal.

Her second goal arrived on the 60th minute mark, this effort not perhaps as stunning as the first but certainly just as important.

Jacobs collected the ball out wide, this time on the left before travelling inside the opposing full-back, where she then unleashed a curling effort towards the home side's goal but it was well matched by South Shields' keeper.

Fortunately for City, Nolan was first to the rebound, however her strike was magnificently blocked by a great sliding tackle from South Shields’ centre-half, before Jacobs collected the loose ball to fire home from close-range.

With the clock ticking down the hosts pulled one back to set up a nervy finale.

Shields' Sophie Curle was found in a one versus one situation and she made no mistake in beating her full-back before drilling a fierce strike into Bradford's net.

With four minutes plus stoppage time still remaining the home side continued to push for a winner and threw the kitchen sink at City, but the visitors' defence held firm to see out the game and claim a valuable three points.

Up next for Bradford is a trip to Harrogate Town Ladies on Sunday, who currently occupy 11th place in the table.
