CITY have rejected a second bid for Jake Young.
The T&A understands that another League One club has tabled the latest offer for the striker – and again it has been turned down.
Exeter, Port Vale and Carlisle have all been strongly linked with Young, who was not in the travelling squad for this afternoon’s 1-1 draw at Colchester.
“There’s been another bid that’s been turned down,” confirmed Graham Alexander after the game.
“If he was fit enough, he’d be in our squad. When he says he’s comfortable enough and declares himself fit, then he’ll be with the rest of the players available for selection.”
Alexander was a frustrated figure after City’s winless run was stretched to five league games.
Andy Cook had fired them in front in the first half but third-bottom Colchester fought back for a draw.
The Bantams had 22 efforts on goal but just three on target – and the lack of cutting edge infuriated the manager.
“After the first 10 minutes, we dominated the next 35,” he said. “We had opportunities – we took one and should have taken more.
“We were comfortable at half-time with our performance and just had to repeat it again. But we couldn’t quite manage it.
“We’re not clinical enough for the amount of play we have in the final third and the pressure we create.
“We’re there in good numbers and don’t leave anyone isolated. We have good coverage in the box but we’re not finding those final game-enhancing moments.
“At 1-0, you give the opposition the chance to change. It only takes one moment for them to get back into the game and that’s what they did.
“We just sat back and doing what we’d been doing ever so well and got harshly punished for it. We let them off the hook.”
Bobby Pointon and Harry Chapman both started in a front three alongside Cook but were replaced by Vadaine Oliver and Clarke Oduor midway through the second half.
“I just thought we were losing control of the game after their goal,” added Alexander.
“The fresh energy came on and we regained control of the game for a period. They still had a counter threat but I still felt we had opportunities to get back in the league.
“But we didn’t show enough to do that. It’s disappointing because that’s a game we should have won.”
