GRAHAM Alexander says it’s far too early to suggest that City have turned a corner.
An improved second half at Notts County, which saw the Bantams score twice, was followed by the 5-1 blitz against a youthful Barnsley in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy in midweek.
The upturn in form, which coincided with a switch to a wing-back formation, has raised spirits ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Accrington.
But Alexander does not regard the last three halves as a sure-fire turning point for his new team.
He said: “You only see turning points further down the line when you look back.
“I don’t think you can say, ‘oh, that’s the turning point’, three days after a game.
“You have to string a good amount of results together to prove that’s the case.
“If it gives you hope, then I think you should cling on to that.
“We all want a bit of hope and positive feeling that the future can be better than it has been the past few months.
“But I think they’ve shown in the last one-and-a-half games that we can produce a competitive team and one that can score goals and defend well.
“That’s the formula everyone is looking for because it ends in good results.”
The seven goals City have netted in that time have all come from different scorers – an encouraging sign for a team that have been so heavily reliant on Andy Cook.
“It can give players confidence that the messages we’re trying to get across of taking that risk, you can get reward for that,” added Alexander.
“It almost gives them confidence that you know what you’re talking about.
“It shows they’ve got the freedom to go and do that and to attack. I think they’ll enjoy playing that way.
“They must have all enjoyed playing that game the other day, not just scoring the goals but there were a lot of other things to take enjoyment from.”
The Bristol Streets Motors Trophy second-round draw is live on Sky Sports at 6.30pm.
