Talented Bradford Bulls prop Ebon Scurr scooped two big prizes at the club's end of season awards dinner at Odsal last night.

The 23-year-old has been touted for Super League at various points in his career, but has stayed loyal to Bulls, and proven his worth down at Odsal.

His barnstorming, powerful runs off the interchange bench punched constant holes in opposition defences all season, and were a key factor in Bulls finishing third and making the Betfred Championship play-off semi-final.

That unsurprisingly saw him named as the ASN Doors Hitman of the Year.

But he won an even more coveted award last night, after being crowned the Players' Player of the Year.

The prop admitted it was a real honour to have been recognised for his performances by his own teammates.

Jordan Lilley, who has excelled at both half-back and hooker this year, also had an impressive night.

He picked up the Coaches' Player of the Year crown, while I presented him with the T&A Player of the Year award, which was voted for by our loyal readers.

It was not too surprising to see Tom Holmes named Fans' Player of the Year.

The full-back scored 13 tries in 2023, second only to Kieran Gill, and immediately looked settled at Odsal in his first season at the club.

On stage, he joked that it was nice to see the supporters appreciated his efforts, even if his fellow players and coaches didn't.

Jayden Myers was superb in his debut season, scoring some crucial tries in the run-in, and the centre was named as the club's Young Player of the Year.

The Try of the Year, voted for by those in attendance last night, went to captain Michael Lawrence, his only score of the year coming in remarkable circumstances.

Just after the hooter went in a comprehensive win at Batley, Bulls broke down the right, before Ben Blackmore hoofed a speculative kick up in the air back inside.

Lawrence had continued his run, powering down the middle, and caught the dropping ball on the full before flopping over the line, to the ensuing hilarity of his team-mates.

The skipper also handed out bottles of wine to the club's loyal volunteers, framed photos commemorating some of Bulls' greatest moments and players were auctioned off, while interim boss Lee Greenwood handed out some comedy awards to his squad at the end of the night.

These included 'Worst Hair in Game' for David Foggin-Johnston, and 'Worst Swimmer' to Dan Okoro.
