EAMON O’Carroll does not head to Bulls as a Grand Final winner, after Catalans Dragons were beaten 10-2 in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.
O’Carroll was confirmed as Bulls’ new head coach in July, on a three-year deal from the start of the 2024 season.
And while he has been a key figure in recruiting and retaining players at Odsal over the last few months, his main role has been assisting Dragons head coach Steve McNamara, as the French side looked to claim their first ever Super League crown.
Catalans fell just short of winning this year’s League Leaders’ Shield, pipped on the final day by Wigan.
But a last-gasp try from the retiring Sam Tomkins saw the Dragons beat St Helens in their play-off semi to reach the Grand Final against Wigan.
In a tense game in Manchester, it was the Warriors who prevailed, winning 10-2 to become Super League champions for the sixth time.
With the Dragons’ season now over, O’Carroll will be looking to shrug off Saturday’s disappointment, and fully get to work now as Bulls’ head coach.
No news has been revealed yet on the 2024 roles at Bulls for current interim duo Lee Greenwood and Brian Noble.
