MARK Hughes is confident that Harry Lewis will still be in City’s goal for the season opener at Crawley.

The Bantams boss claimed that the keeper has been the subject of two bids amid reports that Barnsley are keen to sign him.

But Hughes insists the deadline for any interest in Lewis is gone - and the number one will still be a City player when League Two kicks off on August 5.

“Apparently we’ve had a couple of bids but nowhere near our valuation,” said Hughes. “It’s not happened and he won’t be going.

“Any offers that come in we look at but if they’re not where we think the value is then we won’t accept them.”

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

There was a disturbing incident as the players were leaving the pitch after last night's 3-0 defeat to Getafe.

A supporter approached Lewis and then climbed over the fence in an aggressive manner to get to him. They were asked to leave the area adjacent to the dressing room by club officials.

Hughes does not expect Lewis to have his head turned by the transfer talk and believes he is happy to stay put.

“We kept Harry informed and that’s all he wanted. We told him the situation.

“Harry’s been informed about what’s gone on and we move on.

“A couple of bids have come in that weren’t good enough. There was a timetable to that and because they haven’t come in (with an acceptable offer), that’s the end of it.”
