BRADFORD Bulls’ interim head coach Lee Greenwood admits it is hard to let the scintillating display against Keighley affect his selection for the clash at Widnes on Monday, as “everyone looked good”.
James Segeyaro for example, only started on the interchange bench at Odsal last weekend, despite his NRL pedigree, but set up a couple of tries when he came on.
Greenwood reflected: “Using James is another decision that we’ll have to look at, especially with the calibre of No.9s we’ve got in the squad.
“We like to balance those minutes out, so it’s important for us to decide whether that player is better off starting or coming on from the bench.
“It doesn’t mean that the player coming off the bench is worse than the player starting, it just means that the overall balance of our decision would suit the team better.
“It was hard last Sunday to look at the finer details because everyone looked good. Monday will be a bigger test.”
And Greenwood is hopeful this season’s star man, Tom Holmes, will be available for the Betfred Championship clash in Cheshire.
He said: “Potentially, Tom might be available for Monday.
“We will be light on bodies, but we are confident that the team we put out on Monday will be good enough to put a performance in, which is what we build everything on.
“The majority of the time, if the performance is there then the result follows.”
That was never better showcased than last Sunday, but Greenwood insisted it was not a simple case of an exact repeat eight days later.
He said: “It was almost the perfect game for a couple of the boys to have their debuts against Keighley because of how it went, but it’s hard to just say that everyone from that game should play against Widnes.
“Brian (Noble) and I will sit down and have a strong look at what’s available to us, and then we need to decide what the best line-up is to go out and beat Widnes on Monday.
“Our judgement certainly won’t be swayed by Sunday’s result against Keighley, but we are down on bodies anyway, so there’s not a lot we can change.
“There are two or three options that we can look at, so we’ll see how we get on over the weekend to see whether we need to make those changes or not.”
And ever the perfectionist, Greenwood said: “There are still some aspects of the Keighley game we need to improve on as we head into Monday night.
“We’ve had time at training to look through numerous videos about what we can do better.”
