BULLS will step up the forward hunt as they build up to next week’s TV date with Widnes.

Interim boss Lee Greenwood is keen to add at least one front-rower to bolster their limited resources.

Masi Matongo made his first start on Sunday as one of the three props available alongside captain Michael Lawrence and Ebon Scurr.

The Bulls are missing the injured Jordan Baldwinson for the rest of the season and have lost loanee Fenton Rogers back to Huddersfield. Josh Johnson also switched to Oldham recently.

Greenwood will continue to target potential new additions before next Monday’s televised trip to Widnes.

“We’re still looking,” he said. “We lost three front-rowers in one hit last week.

“We only went with three for the (Keighley) game because that’s all we’ve really got in the building.

“There are one or two probably still to come in. But it’s got to be the right person and ideally on a permanent signing but we’ll see.

“It’s whether the players are available or not.

“There’s still loads of movement. It’s a bit mad compared to what it used to be like.

“There are clubs looking to offload and free money up in their salary cap in certain positions.

“We’re just keeping our ear to the ground as we have done recently.”

The Bulls have recently swooped to bring Lee Gaskell back to Odsal after a seven-year absence as well as bringing in powerful winger Jorge Taufua - who scored a hat-trick on his weekend debut.

Greenwood added: “Rather than bringing somebody in on loan and panicking a week or two before that and then not needing Lee, we’ve waited for the right people to come available and acted accordingly.

“It’s the same with Jorge and we’ll do that again now.

“We’ve lost three front rowers in one hit with Fenton going back and being suspended, Josh Johnson’s obviously gone to Oldham and Baldwinson’s out for the season.

“We’ve got Marcus Green out on loan at Hunslet, so we’ll keep an eye on that and see how he’s developing.

“But if the right forward or two comes up and we think we’ll benefit from getting them in, then we’ll add.”

With five wins in seven games under Greenwood and Brian Noble, the Bulls are in a stronger position to recruit. Greenwood insists the club’s history also always proves a selling point.

“It doesn’t take too much because people like what they see at the moment,” he said.

“But the name speaks for itself regardless. It’s not too long ago when Bradford were world champions and these guys that are playing grew up watching that.

“To come and play for the club is an honour for them, even from different sides of the world.

“Bradford as a name still carries a hell of a lot of weight and people know it. The club itself just attracts people.

“But we’re on a bit of form and then you see we’re bringing in other players with the quality of these guys so it does help.”
