LEE Greenwood won’t rule out dipping back into the loan market - after slashing the number of borrowed players in the Bulls squad.

Nathan Mason’s return to Huddersfield with a fractured arm leaves Giants team-mate Fenton Rogers as the only loan recruit in the 21 men named to face Newcastle tomorrow.

Greenwood has reduced the reliance on short-term arrivals during his stint as interim coach - a move that has gone down well with Bulls fans.

He admits it has improved the continuity in preparing for games but has not dismissed the prospect of borrowing from Super League clubs again during the season.

Greenwood said: “It certainly helps the training. You know who you’ve got in the sessions during the week.

“You know that everyone who is going to play has trained all week with you.

“In terms of that it’s a positive. But we’re talking about the juggling act of putting injured players back in.

“You’ve got to have a think about whether a loan player we may have been offered will improve us for one particular game or in a certain position over a number of weeks.

“I’m certainly not going to say we’re not going to bring anyone else in. But for the two games that I’ve done it seems to have worked cutting down on dual-reg and loan players.

“Who’s to say that might not be the case in two or three weeks?

“You might get an injury in a certain position or we have a couple of bad results.

“Of course, the ideal scenario is we win every single game using all our players. But it’s never perfect.”
