BRADFORD City Women are set to get the chance of a lifetime next month.

They are in the same division as Newcastle United Women, and on International Women's Day yesterday, the Premier League side's Twitter account confirmed some big news.

That announcement was that their female stars have been pencilled in to play at the club's famous St James' Park stadium next month on Sunday, April 16.

That just so happens to be the date the Bantams are due to play their away fixture against the Magpies.

So instead of travelling to one Newcastle's usual home venues, Kingston Park or Druid Park, Gaz Davis' side will instead be heading to play on the hallowed turf where the likes of Jackie Milburn, Malcolm McDonald, Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer once plied their trade.

Despite the excitement over the venue, City will have to put that to one side when the match kicks off.

They are currently three points off safety in the FA Women's National League Division One North, and though that picture may have changed to some extent by mid-April, it is likely they will travel to St James' still needing some points to aid them in their relegation battle.

It is unlikely to be easy though, with Newcastle currently second in the division, seven points behind leaders Durham Cestria but with two games in hand.

This Sunday looks like a much better opportunity for the Bantams to pick up three points, as they host fellow strugglers York at Horsfall.

It is the side's annual 'Pay What You Want' fixture, and they are looking to beat their record attendance at the ground as a result, which currently stands at 275 fans.
