WALSALL have had more ups and downs than most this season.
The Saddlers have endured a rollercoaster campaign of extreme highs and lows.
They are currently stuck in a rut of nine games without a win - the second time they have done that so far.
But in between there was a hot spell which saw them win six out of eight to move into the thick of play-off contention.
Walsall’s present slump, though, has seen them fail to record another victory since beating Mansfield on New Year’s Day.
A club-record six draws on the trot ended with Saturday’s home defeat to Barrow - when Michael Flynn’s men were booed off.
The former City skipper can appreciate the growing frustration among fans as he looks for a reaction against the Bantams tomorrow.
“I have no problem with the fans' booing,” he said. “If I'm honest I was doing the same in my head.
''We started brightly which was probably the only plus point, but after the first goal the next 20 minutes was up there with the worst performances of any of my teams.
''We have to lift ourselves now for Tuesday night, which won't be easy, but we will find out the character of the squad now.
"I will fight to the end, there is no problem with my character, and we owe the fans a response - I will be expecting one and so will they.''
It was only Walsall’s fourth loss in 22 games but the plethora of draws have seen them slip back in the race for the top seven.
Significantly, they have not won since Danny Johnson was recalled by Mansfield after banging in 15 goals on loan.
Flynn brought in Matty Stevens and Jamille Matt during the January window to reform the deadly strike force that powered Forest Green to promotion last season.
The pair netted 47 between them - but have managed just one solitary Stevens goal up to now. Matt, who has gone six games without scoring, was not involved on Saturday.
Yann Songo’o was dropped to the bench against Barrow and did not come on. He is ineligible to face his parent club.
