REMARKABLY, Sunday's win over Widnes marked the first time Dec Patton had ever missed more than one kick at goal for Bulls in a match.

But his two missed conversions were forgotten about when he nailed the one that mattered from Tom Holmes' last-gasp try.

Patton has been criticised by fans in the past for his work in open play, but his goal-kicking prowess has never been in doubt.

Bulls head coach Mark Dunning said: "It's really important to have a kicker who you can count on to score goals.

"He was unlucky with his first miss against Widnes too because he slipped as he hit it, I think it would have gone over otherwise.

"He's very reliable with the boot, but it was great to see his involvement in assisting all three tries against Widnes too."

If Patton can kick any points against Toulouse in the Betfred Championship this lunchtime, it will be the first the French side have conceded since their 24-4 opening day win at Barrow.

Subsequent victories over Newcastle and York have seen Olympique keep their opponents off the scoreboard, something Dunning is all too aware of.

He said: "They're a very good team, conceding four points in three games shows that.

"We'll give that respect to them, but I believe we're a good side too.

"I still think they have the odd weakness and I think we'll get some opportunities to score, as you do when you play against anyone.

"Getting points against them might seem like a mammoth task, but it's one we're excited by."

If Bulls can pull of a surprise victory today, it will be their third in three games at Odsal this season, which would be a marked turnaround from last year, where they only won four times on home soil.

Dunning said: "We spoke about it in pre-season, and how we wanted to repay the fans for their support at Odsal and connect with them.

"We were mindful of that poor home record last year and we want to continue the good form we've shown there so far this season against Toulouse.

"Already the noise seems to be quietening down about how we supposedly can't perform there, which is pleasing."
