YANN Songo’o has left City to join Walsall on loan for the rest of the season.

He has made 19 appearances in the current campaign but only six from the start - just two of those in the league.

The 31-year-old has played 63 times in total for the Bantams since being signed by Derek Adams in July 2021.

Songo’o, who is out of contract in the summer, becomes the sixth player to depart from Valley Parade in the January transfer window. Mark Hughes has also brought in six new faces.

On joining Walsall, Songo'o said: "I want to have a winning mentality, so for me I came here to help the team to hopefully get that promotion. That is what is on my mind now.

“I saw the squad and it is a really strong squad and those are the reasons as to why I wanted to come here.

“The move came about really quick. I got a call from the gaffer last week and we had a five-to-10-minute conversation and that was enough to sell it to me to come here.

“Obviously, there is a lot of competition, there are lots of good players. I have come here to help the team with my experience and hopefully together, we can get our objective.”

He won't be allowed to play for Michael Flynn's side against the Bantams when they face each other on March 7.

Former City skipper Flynn said: “I’m delighted to bring Yann in and integrate him into the squad.

“He brings a wealth of experience in midfield and he’s won promotions out of this league.

“I’m looking forward to working with him until the end of the season.”
