MARK Dunning swallowed his disappointment at today’s Bulls’ postponement and admitted: “We tried everything we could.”

The warm-up game against Huddersfield Giants had already been switched from Odsal to Dewsbury’s FLAIR Stadium to give it the best chance of beating the wintry weather.

But a series of sub-zero temperatures over the last few days rendered the pitch unplayable and the plug was pulled early this morning.

“We’ve tried everything we possibly could,” said the Bulls head coach.

“I walked on the pitch on Friday at Odsal and knew deep down that it wasn’t going to go ahead there.

“The club made the decision to move it with the help of Dewsbury and the agreement of Huddersfield. We gave ourselves every possibility, but Mother Nature has beaten us.”

Keighley’s friendly at home to Castleford was also called off as today’s fixture list was hit hard by the elements.

Dunning added: “It’s not ideal. We couldn’t get out there on Boxing Day as well.

“But it’s not just Bradford Bulls’ problem. It’s the climate affecting everyone and we can’t grumble.

“There’s only the Cumbrian guys who are still on today. Things like Jake Webster’s testimonial are all off, the weather’s bitten everybody so we’ll regroup and crack on.”

As it was a friendly, the game will not be rearranged for a future date.

The Bulls have one more warm-up next week against Leeds at Headingley before the Championship curtain-raiser in a fortnight when Whitehaven visit Odsal.
