MARK Hughes felt it was a good point for City at Wimbledon after Jamie Walker’s “rush of blood”.

The Scot’s red card left the Bantams down to 10 men after an hour of the goalless draw.

“We can’t be too disappointed because of the circumstances of the game,” admitted the City boss.

Walker, starting for the first time since the opening game of the season, was on a booking after a rash challenge - and Hughes warned him at half-time to watch himself.

“I said he needed to be careful that he didn’t damage the team.

“I had a chat with Jamie about using his experience and his head and making sure that he didn’t get a second yellow card.

“Unfortunately, he made a poor decision and it could have cost us. But we got a point out of the game.

“The frustration is that just at the time we looked the more likely team to score and then we got a man sent off.

“That is the disappointment for us because we felt there was more in the game if we’d kept 11 on the field.

“But we had to show a lot of quality, good characteristics, get our head on things, block things and make sure that we didn’t concede.

“We even had moments ourselves down to 10 men that could have taken the game away from them.”

On-loan Burnley striker Dara Costelloe played an hour on his debut alongside Vadaine Oliver.

Hughes added: “I thought he did okay. We’re pleased that he’s with us, we feel he’s a good player and people will see that from now to the end of the season.

“He’s well thought of at Burnley and a lot of clubs were in for him. He’ll get better the more game time he has.

“He’s not had a lot of football of late. Once he gets sharp, he’ll be a good option for us.”
