VADAINE Oliver reckons struggling Rochdale could be the toughest of the lot as City chase a home hat-trick.

The Bantams go into tonight’s game brimming with confidence after beating Harrogate and Salford.

Second-from-bottom Dale have won only once in three months but Oliver has warned against any complacency.

“We can’t look at Rochdale’s league form and think we’ve just got to turn up and it will be easy,” said the big striker.

“It will be the opposite. I’ve been in teams down the bottom fighting for their lives and every game matters.

“We'll take confidence from the last two games but we can’t down tools and think it’s going to just happen.

"We need to match, if not, better their energy, spirit and endeavour and that’s when the quality will come through from our players.

“Anyone can beat anybody in this league on the day.

“They are going to come here knowing we’re a big scalp. To beat us would set them up on a run and give them confidence.”

Oliver admitted Tyreik Wright’s departure has come as a blow - but backed him to take the “fantastic opportunity” with Plymouth. The winger's move was announced by the League One club last night.

“I’m gutted," said Oliver. "He was my little brother and a good partner to have.

“We complemented each other really well, so it’s going to be difficult. But we’ve got good players who can come in and make a change.

“We’ll kick on and carry on the form that we’re in but I wish him all the best of luck.

“He’s starting his career and this is a fantastic opportunity for him. He’s going back to Villa but I know he’s going on to better things.”

Matt Derbyshire has recovered from a chest infection last week as City await his international clearance. He is back in full training but may not be involved tonight.

Hughes can see the lift in mood on the back of two home wins as they prepare to step out at Valley Parade once more.

The City boss said: “There’s a little bit more of a dynamic in training. You sense that we can’t wait for the next game to come round.

“We talked about the home record needing to improve and we got to a point where we weren’t getting results on the board.

“Obviously our away form was great and then we had two poor performances at Leyton Orient and Carlisle. On the back of not getting enough home wins, that wasn’t an ideal situation.

“But I think we’ve turned a corner. Having three home games in a row is unusual but we’ve got to capitalise on that and make sure we get maximum points.

“Nine points in three games is an excellent return and that’s our intention.”
