MARK Hughes has vowed to keep City playing at full throttle as they target a hat-trick of home wins.

The Bantams are back in action against Rochdale tomorrow looking to build on the feelgood factor from their Valley Parade victories over Harrogate and Salford.

Hughes has switched to a more aggressive style of play which has gone down well with fans after a run of three defeats had stalled the momentum.

“We have changed it up a little bit,” said the City boss.

“I just felt maybe our level had dropped. You have to be really accurate with your passing obviously and the intensity levels.

“There are a lot of factors. The break certainly didn’t help in terms of going into the Carlisle game.

“The other two were against difficult opponents and we came up short. That can happen.

“Obviously in the first half of the season, we didn’t do too bad playing a certain way.

“We won six out of seven away from home so there wasn’t too much wrong with the way we were playing at that stage.

“But I just sensed we needed to get on the front foot again. We’d maybe taken a step back and weren’t really able to engage higher up the field.

“We needed to address that and thankfully it’s had the desired result.”

Hughes has changed shape to go with two up front, although Tyreik Wright's pace will now be missed, and a midfield diamond.

It has produced a more direct style played at a quicker tempo, although Hughes will not ditch his passing principles.

He added: “It’s a case of just getting more people where the ball is landing.

“There are going to be more transitions and at times it will be a little bit more frenetic.

“That can cause you problems as well if somebody gets a lucky bounce or it just skirts through to someone, then you can come under pressure.

“But we’re getting in good areas now and we’re still able to play our football. We can still be expansive in what we want to do, get it wide and create.

“I think it’s helped us certainly at this stage from where we were in the season.

“There is obviously a physical aspect to it and we’re not the biggest side in comparison to some of the other clubs in League Two. We’re a little bit mindful of that.

“But certainly, if we improve our anticipation of where balls are going to land and anticipate rather than react then we’ll be fine.”

City will up their search for a replacement for Wright, who is being recalled by Aston Villa ahead of a permanent switch to League One leaders Plymouth.

The Bantams had been hopeful of securing the winger on a full-time deal - only for Argyle to make a sudden move to take him.
