BRAD Halliday has urged City fans to keep the faith during their sudden wobble.

The weekend loss at leaders Leyton Orient, following the recent home defeat to Northampton, saw the Bantams drop a place to sixth in a congested play-off picture.

They have the extra day to pick themselves up before Sunday’s trip to struggling Gillingham.

Halliday views that as a big opportunity to revive their strong away record - and hopes the supporters will stay firmly onside despite the current blip in results.

He said: “I can 100 per cent understand the frustration. Saturday must have been really disappointing for the travelling fans.

“But I’d ask the supporters to please stick with us. We do genuinely believe we’ll do well this season.

“Obviously the aim is promotion and the more people we have on board, the better it will be for all involved.

“We’ve got games coming up now that we expect to win. We put pressure on ourselves to perform.

“Saturday wasn’t the case but we aim to be winning games again over the Christmas period.”

City had won six of the previous seven on their travels - an impressive run stretching back to a stoppage-time loss at Colchester on August 16.

Halliday is hopeful of bouncing back again when they face the long trip to a Gillingham side who have scored just six goals all season.

“Our away form has been really good so the sooner we can get back to that the better,” added the defender.

“We’ve obviously got another away game next weekend and we’ve got to be tougher to beat and get back to our winning ways.

“We need to start doing the fundamentals right again.

“I’ve said it from early on the season that once we click, we can beat any teams comfortably.

“Hopefully we can get back to how we’ve been playing away and it can be a good win.

“But each game is hard in this league. We’ve got a full week to work on things to make sure we’re ready.

“For me personally, I’d have preferred a short turnaround with a Tuesday game where you can get straight out there and put it right.

“But with it being pushed back to the Sunday, it does give us extra time to sort things out again.”

City have conceded three in each of the last two league losses - and have failed to show any response when they go behind. They have yet to pick up a point after letting in the first goal.

Halliday admitted: “We need to stay in games, especially when you’re playing the teams above us in the league.

“Going behind shouldn’t set us back. When we do concede, it should give us that urge and drive to go forward and get back in the game.

“The last two games playing teams above us were a chance to pick up some points and hopefully get a bit of ground on them.

“That hasn’t happened but I still feel we’re good enough to be up there with those sides.”

Boss Mark Hughes insists City have to tighten up again.

"At the moment we are just conceding too many easy goals and it’s the small details of the games we need to get better.”
