MARK Dunning has welcomed the “changing culture” at the Bulls as his Odsal overhaul goes on.

Papua New Guinea forward Keven Appo became the 12th off-season signing as the club press the reset button following the dismal 2022 campaign.

Head coach Dunning insists he is assembling a squad who will play the way he wants to put smiles back on faces.

Dunning said: “We’re really comfortable with where we are at the moment.

“Everybody connected to the club was disappointed with how last season went.

“Whether you’re a fan, a board member, a player or a coach, nobody’s happy with the Bradford Bulls finishing ninth in the Championship.

“We understand that it’s our job to right those wrongs. There’s a great feel around the club at this moment, we’re all united and long may that continue.”

Huddersfield stalwart Michael Lawrence and former Grand Finalist Bodene Thompson are among the flurry of new faces as Dunning puts his own stamp on the changing room after taking over from John Kear mid-season.

“Everybody’s excited by the names we’ve got currently in the building,” he added.

“I’m more looking at whether they buy into the process that we’re trying to create.

“There’s been a massive change of culture. Are they first and foremost good people who want to buy into the direction we want to go in?

“Once they do, then we start talking about who else might be coming in or are already here and how they fit into it.

“The squad is reflective of what I want it to look like. We’re heading in the right direction.

“We’ve still got some work to do and things going on in the background that will hopefully come to fruition.

“We’re a lot closer to what I want my team to look like than we were six months ago.”
