TYREIK Wright missed a penalty as Republic of Ireland under-21s suffered shoot-out agony in Tel Aviv last night.
The Irish were bidding to reach the Euro finals for the first time after the first leg at home to Israel finished in a 1-1 draw.
The return match was goalless after extra-time which meant the tie had to be settled on penalties.
But City’s on-loan winger Wright, who came off the bench after 84 minutes, saw his effort saved by Daniel Peretz. He was the first of three Irish players to fail from the spot as Israel clinched it with a 3-1 win.
Wright is due back training with the Bantams tomorrow ahead of the weekend game at Harrogate.
