MARK Hughes’ first taste of life outside of Premier League management gave him an idea of the task he has ahead of him at Bradford City.
The former Manchester City boss shocked the football world last Thursday when he was unveiled as the new Bantams manager.
Fast forward 48 hours and his new charges fell to a 2-0 defeat against Mansfield Town.
A bumper crowd full of optimism before Hughes’ first match were deflated a little two hours later.
Now Hughes has a week on the training pitch with his new charges before they host Swindon Town on Saturday in League 2.
Here are a few views from City fans on social media following Hughes’ debut in the Bantams’ dugout.

Exciting times. Hughes will be an attraction to the lower leagues best players even if they could get more cash elsewhere. The summer will hopefully be eventful #bcafc

Tell you what, if Mark Hughes died his hair black, he still looks like he did back in the day.

He sounded enthusiastic, and the rest from the game looks to have done him well. He's come to the club with a real desire to succeed.
Let's give him as long as he needs #bcafc pic.twitter.com/SoVRs5WJmz
Let’s just pick up the points we need to stay up this season and see who we get in summer. Optimistic for playoffs next season. #bcafc

Not sure if hughes has to talk like this so may not be relevant, but positive thing from his interview is how much he sees this as a coaching project rather than an assemble a good squad process#bcafc

Refreshing to listen to Hughes post match commentary. No sugarcoating, no slating of individuals, just a honest assessment of where we are at this moment in time. Sounds enthused. Looking forward to small steps of improvement that I didn't see under DA. #bcafc

I genuinely think Mark Hughes will get it right here, he just seems to have a level of calm & assurance, think it helps we are actually one of the smaller clubs he’s managed, he’s used to massive clubs with huge pressure #bcafc
