YOUNG Bradford City midfielder Charlie Wood has linked up with Ossett United on an initial 28-day loan, and he marked his debut in style yesterday.
The former academy captain, who agreed a one-year professional contract with the Bantams in June, was only announced as joining the NPL East Division side on Christmas Day, but he has already made himself a hero with their fans.
Ossett visited struggling Tadcaster Albion in a league encounter yesterday afternoon, and surprisingly found themselves 2-1 down just after the break.
But after a long-range equaliser midway through the second half courtesy of Louis Beckett, it was Wood who popped up with the winner with 15 minutes to go.
Beckett swung in a free-kick, and after Declan McGivern won his header, the ball came to Wood, who pounced to make it 3-2.
The youngster’s goal turned out to be the winner, and it means Ossett move up to seventh in the table, just seven points off the play-offs.
