CITY’S would-be American owners have addressed fans on what they plan to do if they buy the club.
The WAGMI United group held a Twitter “space” announcement on social media – and a few supporters were allowed to throw questions.
Ben Hall, who is behind the North West Kollektive at Valley Parade, admitted it was “hard to believe it was real” when he spoke to them.
He said: “They’ve not over-promised with what they want to do. But they sounded like they were going to commit to instant investment and change at the club.
“They kept saying they didn’t want to speculate on the club they were buying.
“But they said they were quite happy with where the club is and the over-riding mission for them was on-field success and getting back to the Premier League at the first available opportunity.”
For many supporters, there will be shades of former chairman Edin Rahic with the investors, who will base everything on the cryptocurrency market.
But Hall added: “You can’t even imagine Edin saying stuff on this scale like they are going to bring in all these famous Youtubers like Casper Lee and create an international online community.
“The practicality of it just seems very far-fetched.
“We’d have to see what kind of percentage of the financial dealing the cryptocurrencies and the bitcoin would make up. You’re literally relying on a virtual market to keep the club afloat.
“With something that unknown and volatile, surely it’s a huge risk.
“There can’t be a single City fan out there who is not at least a bit worried about what could potentially happen down the line if cryptocurrency crashed.”
