CITY have appointed Mark Trueman as assistant manager - just a month after he was sacked as first-team boss.
The 33-year-old had recently taken up the role of first-team link coach - on a three-year deal - after a five-month spell in charge of the Bantams last season.
New City boss Derek Adams has now, however, selected Trueman as his assistant ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Trueman said: “I am obviously very pleased. After discussions with the gaffer over the past couple of weeks, I feel very positive about our direction going forward.
“Derek expressed he would like to work with me and feels we have strengths which can complement each other’s. It is now up to me to support him as much as possible in the assistant role.
“I learned an awful lot from my time in charge of the first team, and have reflected on everything which has happened over the past six or seven months.
“I am grateful to Derek for the opportunity to work alongside him and continue to learn, and am determined to repay his faith by helping us achieve our goal of promotion next season.”
Adams added: “I have spoken to Mark on a number of occasions and feel it is important, at any club, to have a level of continuity.
“Mark did a brilliant job as manager with Conor Sellars last season, and I am very keen to work alongside him.
“I spoke to a number of other individuals but when I spoke to Mark he was clear in explaining his ethos on the game and the football club.
“I thought it was important to get a feel for him and vice versa. Thankfully, we got to the position of him accepting the role.
“I always believe in looking at those you have inside the club, who know the culture and are here with the foundations, so am delighted to have Mark as my assistant manager.”
