Mick Potter returned home to Australia last Friday but his wife Megan has stayed put at Odsal – for the time being at least.

The former Bulls coach headed back to the couple’s base Down Under in Austinmer, near Wollongong, before stepping up his job search.

His other half is still working as a paid employee in the administration department to help the Bulls’ season-ticket drive in the next few weeks.

Potter said: “Part of the reason for me returning to Australia so quickly was to get back while rugby league is still happening over here.

“I need to see what’s out there because I’d like to stay in the game but it’s a small industry.

“You don’t realise what you’ve got until it’s taken away from you. I understand that and I’m prepared to do something else if I can’t stay in rugby league.

“But Megan doesn’t want to leave Bradford in the lurch and her job is very important at this stage of the year, so she has stayed on to help out with season tickets.

“Omar (Khan) and Gerry (Sutcliffe) and the guys are happy about that because they see the good work she’s doing in the office.

“There’s no set time frame for how long Megan will stay – it will be for as long as she feels comfortable helping them out.”

Potter admitted how working without pay for over two months proved a massive strain.

“Financially it’s been a disaster but I feel like I completed the job on the pitch,” he said.

“By no means do I class myself as struggling financially. But you just find yourself having to change your habits a little bit to accommodate your circumstances and you live to your means.

“We made that adjustment very quickly, given that it turned into quite a lengthy period after we initially thought it was going to be a short period. That probably made it worse than I would have hoped for.

“But there have been some people who have helped and supported us through what was a very difficult time, so it made it a little easier.”

Meanwhile, Jason Crookes ’ move to Hull on a three-year deal was finally confirmed yesterday.

The 22-year-old winger becomes the latest out-of-contract Bulls player to confirm his departure from Odsal.
