Craig Kopczak has promised “fireworks” in next weekend’s derby at Huddersfield as the Bulls look to give their Super League play-off hopes another massive boost.
Friday’s 32-26 victory over eighth-placed Hull KR lifted Mick Potter’s men level on points with the Robins with three games remaining.
That encouraged hopes that the Bulls could yet end a traumatic campaign which has seen them docked six points for entering administration in the play-offs.
Prop Kopczak said: “We knew how tough it was going to be on Friday but at the end of the day we got the spoils and it was a great win.
“There is a fantastic spirit in the camp and you could feel it on the pitch and in the dressing room afterwards.
“Hopefully we can take that into the Huddersfield game and come away with another win there.
“We’re taking it game by game but the momentum is with us now. Hopefully the other results will go our way as well.”
After two successive wins, sixth-placed Huddersfield look virtually assured of a play-off spot but Kopczak is determined to beat them on their own turf.
“It’s a local derby and there will be a lot of fireworks, I’m sure,” he said.
“They picked up another win on Friday night and have a bit of momentum too, so it’s all set up for a cracking game.
“We’ve worked hard in training and can go into the Huddersfield game on a high.”
Potter, meanwhile, suggested after Friday’s game that he would be willing to see out the campaign at Odsal despite currently working without pay.
Kopczak said: “Mick is obviously just taking it week by week but to work without pay these last few weeks shows fantastic commitment to the club.
“We’ve got a lot of credit to Mick but the rest of the backroom staff too. They’ve all been turning up as normal and that’s fantastic to see.”
* England’s academy team were beaten 40-14 by the Australian Schoolboys in Brisbane on Saturday to lose the Test series 2-0.
The tourists were skippered by John Bateman but Bulls team-mate Liam McAvoy was sent to the sidelines following a 26-man brawl after only five minutes of a feisty encounter at Wynnum-Manly.
Both sides were reduced to 12 men for a second time in the second half when James Cunningham of England and Australia’s Brad Deitz were sent off.
