Leeds Rhinos 34 Bradford 16
The Bulls were made to pay for defensive errors as Leeds edged a hard-fought derby at Headingley in front of a bumper crowd of 18,520.
Mick Potter’s men led through Elliott Whitehead’s well-worked score but two tries from Kallum Watkins and Shaun Lunt’s effort put Leeds 18-6 up.
Bradford lost full-back Brett Kearney to injury at the break and Leeds scored again through Zak Hardaker and Danny McGuire either side of Olivier Elima’s touchdown.
Karl Pryce replied for the Bulls late on but, despite a spirited display, could not avert their first defeat since entering administration last month as Kevin Sinfield added a sixth try for Leeds at the death.
