Bulls coach Mick Potter paid tribute to his side after they thumped Dewsbury 42-16 in yesterday’s pre-season friendly.

Potter’s men ran in seven tries as debutants Luke Gale (2) and Adrian Purtell were on target along with Shaun Ainscough, Paul Sykes, Phil Joseph and Tom Burgess.

Bradford were well worth their 30-0 interval lead and the only negative was the fact they were outscored by three tries to two in the second half.

Yet the class they showed in the opening 40 minutes left Potter in buoyant mood as Gale and Joseph excelled throughout.

James Donaldson also shone, while the fit-again Matt Diskin and Nick Scruton made successful returns from injury.

Potter said: “I thought Luke Gale had a really solid game in his first hit-out.

“He scored a couple of tries, was involved in a couple of others and was instrumental in a lot of things.

“Our field position was good, I’m happy with Luke and I’m happy with the team. I thought Donno was very good as well.

“He tackled everything that moved and carried the ball well.

“Phil Joseph was good and Tom Burgess did well when he came on – there weren’t too many negatives.

“Yes, we conceded some tries after the break but they are solvable problems and there are no big issues.”
