New Bulls recruit Jarrod Sammut was thrust into a military training camp today – just 17 hours after touching down in the UK.
The unorthodox Aussie half-back, 24, only arrived at Manchester Airport from Down Under yesterday lunchtime – but he was due to hit the ground running in the early hours of this morning.
Mick Potter’s men assembled at RAF Linton-on-Ouse near York at 5am for a series of team-building activities over two days.
They will stay there overnight and depart tomorrow afternoon in a mini-camp that Potter says will take his men “out of their comfort zone.”
For Sammut – who has joined Bradford on a one-year deal from Crusaders – the importance of pre-season cannot be overstated.
“I’ve spoken to Mick about this coming year and my first objective in the next few weeks is to get the respect of my new team-mates,” he said.
“The start of next season is a long way off but this is the time when you come together as a squad, build relationships and get to know each other on and off the field.”
