Francis Cummins hailed the attitude of his players yesterday after the Bulls hit the ground running on their first day of pre-season training.
A youthful group comprising players who have featured in less than 50 Super League games for the club, plus senior men returning from injury such as Heath L’Estrange and Nick Scruton, assembled at the club’s training headquarters at Tong.
None of Bradford’s six new signings have yet arrived as the bulk of Mick Potter’s squad will not begin training for another fortnight. Yet those who featured in yesterday’s session earned a ringing endorsement from assistant coach Cummins, who is in charge of team affairs until Potter returns from Australia next week.
“The attitude is probably the first thing that you look for and it was spot on,” said Cummins.
“The players have been really good with their attention to detail and there are some keen blokes there.”
