Chief executive Ryan Duckett has dismissed talk of a crisis at the Bulls.

A dismal run of results has seen Mick Potter’s team slide to 12th in Super League but Duckett insists the club remain well equipped to respond.

The board’s faith in Potter has not wavered despite the recent troubles and there has never been any suggestion of a change at the top.

The Aussie arrived on a two-year deal ahead of the current campaign and will be given full support to see through the long-term rebuilding process.

So far, that task has been tougher than expected but Duckett believes the lack of progress should not be confused with inactivity.

He said: “Recent results have been disappointing and everyone involved in the club – staff, players and coaches – all thought we would be in a better position than we are at the moment.

“We’ve had injuries, which is not an excuse, but I believe we would have been more competitive if we’d been able to keep more bodies on the pitch.

“We all understand the frustration of the fans and are working hard to address the problems.

“We are not in a comfort zone. We want to turn things round and we are all extremely passionate about the club.”

A disappointing first half of the season – coming on the back of the club’s worst ever Super League finish in 2010 – has led to suggestions of underlying problems at Odsal.

Duckett is not blind to the issues but pointed to the successful Pledge 10,000 scheme as evidence of a pro-active approach.

“The results obviously show there are some issues there that have caused us to be where we are,” he said.

“You could suggest loads of possibilities but we’re still confident in what we’ve got at the club. We’ve got a quality coach and some quality players and we’re sure we can still turn things around.

“On the back of the pledge, supporters have been absolutely fantastic and we have an average attendance of almost 15,000.

“We really appreciate that, especially as they will be frustrated by the disappointing results.

“At times like this we need the supporters to get behind the team and help us turn our season round.”

Duckett sees Sunday’s Challenge Cup fifth-round tie against Wigan as an opportunity to address the slide and called on supporters to play their part in attempting to spark a revival.

He said: “The Challenge Cup gives us an opportunity to turn things round and supporters can get behind the team and make a difference on the day.

“We share the supporters frustrations. The coaching staff and the players are hurting and nobody at the club takes this situation lightly.”
