Bulls boss Mick Potter refused to write off his side’s chances of making the Super League play-offs, even after watching them slip to 12th.
Defeat at Hull KR was the latest development in a worrying slide that has left them third from bottom with just 13 games remaining.
But Potter retains belief fortunes can be reversed, despite admitting confidence levels have become a cause for concern.
He said: “Once you start looking at it mathematically, you start to worry.
“I would think it’s still a possibility but then I’m not a mathematician. Today’s result doesn’t help our chances.
“Given the body language of the players I would imagine confidence has been affected.
“What you do becomes a habit and, at the moment, we’re losing games and making mistakes."
