Mick Potter admits his Bulls are “desperate” for a win at Hull KR on Sunday.

The pressure is on ahead of the Craven Park clash after a string of sub-par performances, including Sunday’s Challenge Cup win against Halifax.

And the situation was not helped last night when scan results revealed that Chev Walker will be out for eight to ten weeks with a broken foot. He will have an operation on Friday.

Potter’s side have not won in the league for over a month and have leaked at least 30 points in five of their last six games.

Rovers too are feeling the heat after losing three of their last four outings and sit one point and one place below Bradford in the table.

“We need to win it and they’re going to be as desperate as us to pick up the two points,” said Potter.

“You don’t want to get left behind from the eight. It’s midway through the competition now so we need to get the two points.”

New arrival Ben Jeffries is expected to make his return debut on Sunday after arriving for a second spell with the Bulls late last week.

Snapped up from Wakefield, the 30-year-old Aussie could be thrust straight into action at scrum half after Marc Herbert picked up a hamstring injury at Halifax.

Potter said: “I think Ben will play at the weekend. He’ll slot in there somewhere.

“He’s a quality player so he’ll slide in there somewhere at six or seven. We’ll just see how Marc Herbert pulls up after this game.

“Ben just adds a bit more value to our squad.”

The Bulls are also hopeful both Jamie Langley and Matt Diskin will return from injury at Craven Park.

Diskin sat out Sunday’s Challenge Cup tie, while Langley has been absent for six weeks, both a result of shoulder injuries.

Injuries have hit hard in recent weeks, with Olivier Elima, Paul Sykes and Shaun Ainscough all ruled out for around six weeks.

Brett Kearney, Nick Scruton and Danny Addy were already sidelined and now Walker has been added to the casualty list.

The injuries to Walker and Herbert forced the Bulls boss to play 17-year-old pair John Bateman and Adam O’Brien for extended minutes at Fax but he believes his side should have the “spine” to cope with such setbacks.

He said: “Injuries affected us and I had to play John Bateman in the centres, which is a position he’s not accustomed to. I thought he did pretty well.

“Adam played a fair few minutes. He played nearly 30 minutes and he did a good job for us.

“You get through it and other teams get through it. Teams with a little bit of spine can get through those little bits of adversity that happen.”
