Shad Royston has endured plenty of sleepless nights in the build-up to his first Odsal derby.
But it is not the prospect of facing Leeds Rhinos that has been keeping the Bulls utility back up at night, rather a huge change in lifestyle.
During the winter, Royston signed up for a debut season in Super League and earlier this month became a dad for the first time.
Fatherhood has not exactly eased the transition to top-level rugby but, two weeks after the birth of son Ethan Rocco, he is finally finding a balance.
Rested for the defeat at Salford after appearing jaded during training, the Aussie is back in fighting shape for tonight’s clash with Leeds.
He said: “It’s been a busy time. Everyone talks about it being a life-changing thing to have a child and it sure is.
“I’ve definitely not been getting regular sleep. He’s up every couple of hours and while the missus is probably doing a little bit more than me, you’re still getting interrupted sleep.
“You have to adjust your lifestyle to do everything for him, changing nappies and stuff like that.
“It has been a bit draining over the last two weeks. You’re tired but it’s more about trying to get over it mentally.
“I was struggling a bit last week especially but I feel a bit more on top of it now and more used to what’s going on.”
