Bulls centre Michael Platt is on a mission to repay Mick Potter’s faith after being given a two-year contract extension.

Platt today finalised a deal to keep him at Odsal until the end of 2013 and sees it as a major vote of confidence from the head coach.

One of just 15 senior players inherited by Potter from the previous regime, the 27-year-old Mancunian is the third first-teamer to agree new terms in the last three weeks.

Nick Scruton and Tom Olbison have already put pen to paper and more should follow over the coming month, with several already locked in advanced talks.

Platt said: “I’m delighted to sign a new deal. Mick’s come in and it’s a little bit different. You don’t know where you stand or whether he’ll like you as a player or a person.

“But he’s given me a new contract so I’m delighted because it means I’m part of his plans.

“It means I’m not just a player Mick has inherited but he wants me here.”
