The Bulls are in no rush to add to their squad before the start of the new season.
Boss Mick Potter has already been busy in the winter transfer market, Kyle Briggs becoming the 11th new arrival after completing a switch from Featherstone two weeks ago.
But 11 first-team squad members have also headed for the exit – Aussie pair Glenn Hall and Matt Orford the latest to depart – leaving room for manoeuvre ahead of the Super League opener against Leeds on February 13.
Potter has significant room under the salary cap at his disposal and a spare overseas quota spot to play with but the Bulls will only make a move if the right opportunity emerges.
Chairman Peter Hood said: “It’s a great position to be in because we have a quota spot and we are comfortably under the salary cap.
“But we are not in any rush to do anything. Mick has been granted use of the full salary cap and, if something comes up, we are in a position to make a move.
“We also feel we are well set with the squad we have.”
Bradford have long been linked with a move for St Helens stand-off Leon Pryce, although his club are apparently unwilling to sell, particularly with fellow half-back Kyle Eastmond sidelined for the start of the season.
Former Aussie Test star Braith Anasta is one player who has recently come into the market.
The Sydney Roosters captain is apparently being shopped around after becoming surplus to requirements and could be made immediately available despite having a year left on his current deal.
North Queensland and Parramatta appeared the most likely candidates to hand Anasta an NRL lifeline but both clubs have ruled themselves out of the reckoning despite having salary-cap space.
Although Hood refused to comment directly on a potential move for the 29-year-old, who can also play at loose forward, he has not ruled out the possibility.
“We are always interested in quality players and Braith Anasta, along with many others, is a quality player,” added Hood.
“So of course we would be interested in adding quality to our squad if Mick identified a certain player but nothing has happened yet.”
