Bulls chairman Peter Hood has pledged to provide the financial backing for incoming coach Mick Potter’s rebuilding efforts.
Speaking at the club’s fans’ forum, Hood admitted 2010 had been a ‘failure’ on the pitch but reasserted the desire to push for a top-four place in next year’s Super League.
This season, the Bulls have spent short of the salary cap and a tight squad has been hit hard by injuries during a slide to 11th.
But Hood confirmed Potter will be given the budget to overhaul the squad, with a number of arrivals expected over the coming months.
Wigan prop Iafeta Paleaaesina and Catalans back-rower Olivier Elima are among those who have been strongly linked with a move to Odsal in recent weeks.
“In terms of setting goals, we should be aiming for a top-four place and expecting to be in the play-offs,” said Hood.
“The four is what we should be shooting for and also a positive run in the Challenge Cup. We haven’t done that this year so we have failed.”
Hood added: “Mick will be given the resources and he’s a top-class coach.
“In 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, the club spent the full salary cap and in 2010 some investment has gone into our fantastic training facility at Tong School.
“Next year the salary cap is available and it’s a matter for the head coach where he wants to use that money.”
The Bulls have struggled to compete financially with many of their rivals due to the lack of a wealthy backer, like those at Warrington and Huddersfield.
But Hood admits the club are currently seeking investment in a bid to close the gap.
He said: “We are in the process of trying to identify possible investors. We have written to 180 wealthy individuals with some connection to this part of Yorkshire and we are waiting for responses.
“We need to identify them, communicate with them and get the opportunity to sell the club to them.
“At the moment, we don’t know who any potential backer is. They could already be coming here to watch games incognito.”
