Steve McNamara would be only too happy to stick the boot into ailing Harlequins.

The Londoners are in a bad way ahead of their trip to Bradford on Friday, sitting rock bottom of Super League and crippled by a lengthy injury list.

Quins were missing six first-team players for last week’s 32-18 defeat to Huddersfield, and the odds appear to be stacked against them avoiding a seventh defeat in eight games.

And although Bulls boss McNamara will not underestimate former team-mate Brian McDermott’s side, he will also show no mercy.

“Sometimes you have to take advantage of a side that is going through a tough period,” said McNamara.

“But I think there were signs their performance improved last week against Huddersfield.

“It’s probably the first game in three weeks we’re going into as favourites.”

Even considering Quins’ problems, McNamara knows they still have enough talent to cause problems.

He said: “They’ve got Tony Clubb and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, who were in the England train-on squad, and Chad Randall, who’s been possibly the form hooker in the competition over the past two years.

“Danny Ward has won Grand Finals and World Club Challenges and Luke Williamson and David Howell were two very good NRL players.

“They’ve got some quality about them. There will be no danger whatsoever about us being complacent and we’re keen to improve on recent performances, while adding quality in key areas.”
