Matt Orford reckons the Bulls need to start showing more respect.

Defeat at Warrington proved hard to swallow, especially as Bradford need look no further than themselves for the cause of their downfall.

A complete lack of ball control allowed the Wolves to run riot in the second half, racking up a 33-8 scoreline that barely reflected the difference between the two teams.

And Orford has warned the Bulls will never reach their undeniable potential unless basic lessons are learned.

“It was disappointing,” said the veteran scrum half. “We set out with the mentality of playing a really disciplined style of football.

“The first half we showed it and the second half we did exactly the opposite.

“We didn’t respect the ball. We turned it over on tackle one and two and just showed no respect.

“The discipline went out the window and Warrington taught us a really simple lesson on how to control the ball and how to control the game.

“I still think we’re a great side but we can’t do that. We can’t play for 50 minutes then do silly things and turn the ball over.

“Good teams will make you pay. We probably only got out of our defensive end twice in the second half and when you keep on defending, the juice is gone.

“Until we learn that lesson not to turn over the ball and to stick to our game-plan and structures, we’ll keep getting punished.”

The Bulls’ first chance to make amends comes against another of the early-season form teams.

Hull FC have won four of six games so far and Orford expects they will be keen to prove a point after losing heavily at Wigan on Friday.

He said: “There’s going to be nobody hiding in the video, you can’t hide from any video.

“The coach will highlight any area of the game that we took shortcuts on and once we’ve done that, we’ll move on.

“It’ll be firm, it’ll be harsh but it’ll be deserved.

“Hull lost this weekend so they’ll be hurting but if we turn out with the right attitude, we’ll be in the game.”
