Bulls boss Steve McNamara fumed at his players’ neglect of the basics after they threw away a half-time lead to lose 33-8 at Warrington.

Having performed impressively throughout the first half, particularly in defence, Bradford handed over the game on a silver platter to their hosts thanks to a string of unforced errors.

They were outscored by the Wolves 27-0 after the break and could barely complete a set for long periods of the second half, such was their ineptitude.

And McNamara made it clear he will not stand for a lack of concentration or application from his players as they look to build consistency of performance.

“We defended heroically throughout the first 40 minutes and defended our try-line great but we did it too often.

“We would have got away with it if we’d been a lot better with the ball in the second half but we put ourselves under pressure and it became too much in that last 20 minutes.

“We repeatedly made errors coming out of our own end and, against a side of Warrington’s quality, you’re not going to get away with it.

“Even the first 15 or 20 minutes of the second half it was nip and tuck but unfortunately for us, we imploded because of the errors we kept making. I’ll accept anybody who makes an error, it’s part of the game, and when people are trying as hard as some of those people were trying, errors are part and parcel of the game. As a coach you can accept that.

“It’s the lack of concentration and application when a lot of that effort’s gone in that really hurts and it won’t be tolerated.”
