Dewsbury boss Warren Jowitt has the added incentive of bragging rites on offer when his side take on Bradford in the Challenge Cup.

The Bulls were handed a trip to their Yorkshire neighbours in Monday’s fourth-round draw, leaving Jowitt grinning from ear to ear.

Not only does he have the chance to get one over his old club but also an old friend in Bulls boss Steve McNamara – a former team-mate at both Bradford and Wakefield.

And clashes between the two sides have become a regular fixture, thanks to their yearly pre-season meeting at Tetley’s Stadium.

He said: “I used to play there and Steve Mac’s the coach, an old team-mate of mine and someone I’m still good mates with.

“I think it’s become a bit of a local derby now!

“I’m looking forward to it. I think it’s going to be a good experience for the lads and it’ll probably be a good tie and an interesting game.

“We did well in pre-season last year and this year so I’ll be making sure the boys are up for the game.”

Dewsbury overcame their own potential banana skin to reach the fourth round, beating amateurs Drighlington 42-10, although the tie was closer than expected.

And Jowitt believes the Rams should not be underestimated and remains confident they could cause a monumental upset.

He said: “They’re just one-off games. We played Drighlington in the last round and they competed with us first half, even though second half we blew them out of the water.

“We’ll be there to compete and I can’t wait to have a crack at them.

“You prepare like you would for any other game. Every game’s the same as far as I’m concerned so we’ll prepare to win.

“There is a big gulf between us and Super League but I’ll be getting the boys up for it and as long as they compete, they’ll be in with a shout.”
