Nick Scruton is grateful he has no time to stew.
The Bulls prop was devastated by defeat to St Helens on Sunday and is already champing at the bit for a chance to make amends.
He won’t have to wait long. Bradford are back in action on Friday, when West Yorkshire rivals Castleford visit Grattan Stadium, and the quick turnaround is just want the players wanted after their 38-6 reverse against Saints.
“It’s good that we get to go back out on Friday,” said Scruton.
“It would be shocking if we had to wait until next Sunday to put things right. Let’s put these wrongs right and try to make people happy again.
“We were after a big start. Training has gone so well and everyone has come together as a team. We were desperate for the big start but sometimes things don’t go your way.
“We have to put St Helens behind us but we also have to keep it in mind.
“You’ve got to remember how much it hurts and how embarrassing it was but you can’t completely dwell on it and we need to go into the Castleford game positive.
“We can’t go into it expecting to win but we need to be confident of winning.”
Scruton was one of the few Bulls players to come out of Sunday’s game with any serious credit.
The former Leeds Rhinos forward worked tirelessly on defence, provided plenty of go-forward and made one powerful break that should have resulted in a try.
But personal accolades do not make the team performance any easier to swallow.
Scruton said: “There were a few things I did in the game that I was happy with but you can’t be at all happy when you’ve lost like that.
“Sunday was a massive shock. We’ve trained so well and the trial games had showed good signs, even Castleford on Boxing Day, we put some things into practice that were good.
“Everybody is doing everything they can and we’ll continue to do that.
“Steve is working every hour under the sun and the coaching staff are giving us every chance of getting the results. It’s up to us to do the business.”
