Bradford’s decision makers have been urged to involve the fans in any plans to move City and the Bulls into the same home.

The Supporters’ Trust have written to council chief executive Tony Reeves to voice the concerns they fear will be overlooked in the plans for an Odsal Sporting Village.

The Trust believe it will be easier – and much cheaper – to shift the Bulls into Valley Parade instead of housing both clubs at a new multi-million pound complex.

But they insist that moving either club would only work if the fans were right behind it.

Trust chairman Alan Carling wants a meeting with Reeves before Christmas to discuss progress on the OSV project before any funding announcement is made public.

Carling said: “In an ideal world, Bradford City and the Bulls would no doubt continue to play at their respective home grounds, hopefully with as much sporting success as possible.

“But it seems that it is not possible in the longer term to sustain the costs of two modern stadiums in Bradford.

“If this is so, then we are inevitably looking at ground-sharing between the two clubs. But ground-sharing at Valley Parade is not going to work without the support of Bulls’ fans and ground-sharing at Odsal won’t work without the support of City fans.

“This is why it is vital to involve supporters in the decision-making process about the Odsal Sports Village.

“As things stand, City supporters cannot see that it makes much sense to move to Odsal. Ground-sharing at Valley Parade is likely to prove much easier and cheaper to accomplish.

“But the chief executive may be able to provide new information that puts a different complexion on the issue. It will be interesting to see.”
