Injured Bulls star Jamie Langley could be back inside three weeks – but team-mate David Solomona faces up to three months on the sidelines.

That was the mixed outcome of a specialist’s report following the pair’s shoulder dislocations.

Odsal boss Steve McNamara said: “Obviously, it’s differing news on them both.

“Langers won’t need an operation. He’ll rehab and be a relatively short period of time, probably another two weeks, maybe three.

“But Sol does require an op and he’s looking at ten to 12 weeks after that.

“It’s disappointing to suffer two injuries like this so early on. You keep your fingers crossed, do all the rehab and prehab to try and prevent them but they were just two freakish injuries.

“We’ve just got to get on with it as a squad and that’s what we’re doing.”

The second-row pair both suffered their setbacks in the opening Super League game of the season against Hull KR 11 days ago.

McNamara’s side are back in action for the first time since against Huddersfield Giants tomorrow night.

Prop Matt James – recalled from his Halifax loan spell – and rookie Elliott Whitehead were yesterday promoted to the 19-man squad.

Matt Cook is likely to start in place of Langley while fellow second-row Mike Worrincy will debut off the bench after being 18th man against Hull KR.

McNamara is confident with the options he has to fill the void created by the internationals’ absence.

“Worrincy is itching to get an opportunity and I’m looking forward to seeing him go,” he said, about the close-season capture from Harlequins.

“I’ve already said how outstanding Matt Cook has been and I’ve been impressed with his attitude.

“With Matt James coming back, Sam Burgess can also play back-row while Andy Lynch will be fit again shortly as well so we have all these.”

Solomona getting crocked is a major blow for the Samoan international who was desperate to produce some top form in the final year of his Bulls contract.

But McNamara insisted: “Although it’s frustrating for him, we’ll get him back around the end of May so he’s still going to have a huge part of the season to play.

“It’ll be a big boost him coming back at that stage.”

Tomorrow night is the first call up to the senior squad for former West Bowling junior Whitehead.

The England Academy second-rower, 19, has impressed since joining the Bulls full-time last winter.

Meanwhile, the Bradford boss locks horns with new Huddersfield chief Nathan Brown for the first time tomorrow.

However, the Aussie isn’t unknown to him as McNamara explained: “I played with Nathan at St George in ’93.

“We were in the lower grades together and knew him for a time there.

“They’ve made a very encouraging start at Huddersfield with a good win at Catalans and a close defeat to Saints.

“He’s obviously got them playing well but we’re looking to produce our own stuff tomorrow night and get our first Super League victory.”
