Wayne Godwin bids to inspire another Bulls victory tomorrow night - and show Hull boss Peter Sharp what could have been.

The hooker makes his first return to the KC Stadium since being dumped by the Black and Whites chief last season.

"I don't feel like I've a point to prove," insisted Godwin, as improving Bradford seek a fifth win in six games.

"I'm not a bitter sort of lad and never take anything that sort of way.

"Deep down though, I probably do want to play well over there to show Hull what they're missing.

"But that's probably more for the team's benefit rather than myself and how I left won't be affecting me tomorrow night.

"I'm happy to be at Bradford now and playing with these lads here."

Godwin was halfway through a two-year deal and anticipated stepping into the shoes of Hull's retiring Kiwi ace Richard Swain this season.

But instead Sharp forked out big money to bring Australian Test star Shaun Berrigan to the club and told Godwin he was free to go.

Steve McNamara snapped up the ex-Wigan rake and he has quickly settled into life at Odsal, proving an excellent foil for Great Britain No 9 Terry Newton.

He starts for the second game running tomorrow though with Newton completing a two-match ban.

Top-tackler Godwin enjoyed his best game yet against another of his former sides on Sunday, his pace out of dummy-half proving a constant thorn in Castleford's side.

Did he have a wry grin to himself when realising the two games Newton would miss would both be against his former team-mates?

"I didn't even realise," said Godwin, who dummied over versus the Tigers.

"We're close mates, me and Tez, so I was just gutted for him.

"I thought that suspension was really harsh considering some of the other decisions this year and didn't expect him to even get a ban.

"He'll be looking forward to getting back next week but obviously for me, starting against Cas - the team who gave me my Super League chance where I played from the age of 15 to 22 - and now at Hull, against another former club, it's great."

Things aren't too great for their injury-ravaged opponents, who have managed just two victories this season.

Godwin will go face-to-face with the man who replaced him and he said: "I still speak to Ewan Dowes and Gaz Carvell a lot, who I travelled over with.

"From what they've been saying and what I've seen it's been real tough for Hull.

"No one's really settled because of all the injuries. Berrigan's been playing half-back, centre and hooker. Even though they've signed him as a nine, he's not played there that much but it's good to see young Danny Houghton going well.

"He's looking dangerous and they've got some quality players like Richard Horne, Berrigan and Adam Dykes despite having some leaders missing."

Hull eased the pressure by picking up a draw in Perpignan last week and will look to improve on that tomorrow night.

Godwin, who played for them against Bradford home and away last season, knows just what part the vocal KC support could play for them.

"The fans there are so passionate and you can really feel it at their ground," he said.

"It's drilled into you that you are expected to win at home and the KC should be a fortress.

"But we're confident of going there and getting a win.

"It was nice to score against Cas but I was more pleased with the team performance and we need to carry that on tomorrow night."
