Paul Deacon's testimonial ended in double disappointment this afternoon with defeat against hometown Wigan and team-mate David Solomona suffering a serious knee injury.
The Bulls trailed just 12-10 at half-time after tries from Sam Burgess and Semi Tadulala.
But they were picked apart by Trent Barrett after the re-start and saw Kiwi star Solomona stretchered off with suspected medial ligament damage.
Dave Halley got a late consolation which Deacon improved from wide out, his second conversion of the day, while Simon Finnigan, Ben Jeffries, Chris Nero and Wayne Godwin all made their Bulls debuts.
