New boy Semi Tadulala admits his decision to volunteer for Bulls duty is already paying off.

The Fijian winger made his debut today as Bradford opened their pre-season account with an impressive 30-16 win at Dewsbury.

Tadulala wasn't scheduled to appear until next month but was keen to get some match fitness under his belt having not played since breaking an arm with Wakefield last March.

He completed 80 minutes, looked sharp and said: "It was definitely good to be back out there playing again.

"It's felt so long since I last played and I was really blowing in the first ten minutes but I got a second wind and enjoyed it.

"It's totally different from training to playing and that's why I wanted to play in this match.

"The club was planning on playing me later on in pre-season but I approached them and asked if I could have a run-out earlier.

"That's what I needed and I'm glad I did.

"I'm playing at Wakefield on Friday too. It might have been pretty tough going straight there for my first game in nine months."

A Bulls side made up mainly of Academy players proved too strong for Dewsbury with the outstanding Dave Halley, Richard Johnson, Eddie Kilroy, George Flanagan and Keith Shackleton all scoring tries.

Tadulala didn't make the scoresheet but did come up with some big defensive plays, coming off his wing to perform two try-saving tackles.

He said: "I've learned that just in the last couple of weeks here at Bradford.

"It was probably my weakness sometimes at Wakefield, not keeping up with the line or coming in off the wing when it's needed.

"But it's the way they defend here so I was pleased with being able to do that a couple of times.

"It shows I've learned something new already.

"It was great to get the Bulls shirt on. This was my debut.

"People might only see it as a friendly and my debut won't be until Super League starts but for me this was the beginning of my Bradford career. It started today and I'm delighted.

"The arm pulled up all right, there were no problems so everything's looking positive. Now for Wakefield!"
