Former Bradford Northern great Ellery Hanley looks set for a return to rugby league - with National League Two Doncaster.
The ex-Great Britain captain, one of the finest players in the modern era, has been out of the game since a brief spell as coaching consultant at Castleford in 2004.
But he is reported to be favourite to take over at Doncaster, who are looking for their fifth coach in 12 months following the sudden resignation of John Stankevitch.
Hanley shot to fame in Northern colours, scoring more than 50 tries in the 1984-85 season before a then world record £85,000 transfer to Wigan.
He coached Britain in 1994, guided St Helens to the Super League title in 1999 but could now be ready to face the likes of Keighley Cougars and Gateshead Thunder with Doncaster.
